At first glance, “Chapitre III: Corpus Delicti”, from L’Esprit du Clan, seemed very interesting. Aside from being hard to find, the description of the music was also of a very rare nature (at least in my experience). First of all, they’re a French metalcore band, but the vocals are in their native language—and yes, they’re aggressive vocals. I’ve always been a fan of metalcore, but only by a specific range of bands. All in all, I find the genre to be flooded with second-rate copycats. However, there are a few bands to watch closely because, despite the genre’s overall blandness, certain bands rise above and continually provide interesting and original ideas in their music. L’Esprit du Clan is one of these bands.
